Cracked Marble Repair in Dubai: Floors, Vanities and Stairs
Cracked and chipped marble can usually be repaired on site without lifting or replacing the stone. The crack is cleaned, filled with a colour-matched stone resin, levelled and polished to match the surrounding marble. Most marble chip repairs and hairline crack repairs on floors, vanities and stairs are completed in a single visit.
Marble is everywhere in Dubai properties, from villa staircases to apartment bathrooms and hotel lobbies. It's beautiful, but it's also a natural stone with veins and weak points, and Dubai's heat, building movement and heavy use all take their toll. Why marble cracks and chips
Building movement and heat. Concrete slabs expand and contract with Dubai's temperature swings, putting stress on stone laid on top.
Hollow areas underneath. When the adhesive bed has gaps, the stone flexes underfoot and cracks. The same problem causes hollow tiles.
Impact. A dropped bottle on a vanity, a heavy item on a stair edge or furniture being moved.
Natural weak points. Cracks often follow a vein or fissure that was already in the slab.
Cracked marble repair on floors
Floor cracks are the most common job. A hairline crack is cleaned out, filled with resin tinted to the base colour and veining of the stone, then honed and polished level. If the crack is caused by a hollow area, the void underneath is treated first so the crack doesn't reopen. Chipped marble at tile edges and corners is rebuilt the same way.
Cracked marble vanity repair
Vanities crack around the sink cut-out, where the stone is thinnest, or from a heavy impact. The crack is filled and bonded so the top is stable again, and the surface is polished to match. Chipped marble stairs and steps
Stair nosings take a lot of knocks, and a marble chip on a step edge is both a trip hazard and an eyesore. The missing piece is rebuilt with resin and shaped back to the original profile, whether it's a square, bevelled or bullnose edge, then polished to match.
What a marble repair can and can't do
A good marble chip repair or crack repair makes the damage stable and much less visible. On busy, veined stone it often disappears into the pattern. On plain, very light or very dark polished marble, a fine line may still be visible up close. We'll tell you what to expect before we start.
Repair isn't the right answer if the stone is broken into loose pieces, if large areas are hollow and moving, or if the slab has sunk. In those cases replacing the affected pieces is better, and we'll say so.

Types of marble we repair in Dubai

White marbles such as Carrara and Calacatta, where grey veining has to be recreated across the repair.
Cream and beige marbles such as Crema Marfil and Botticino, common on villa floors and stairs.
Dark marbles such as Nero Marquina and Emperador, where any difference in shine shows clearly.
Travertine and limestone, which have natural holes and a softer surface.
Signs a marble crack is getting worse
the crack line becomes wider or darker over a few weeks;
you hear a hollow sound when you tap the stone either side of the crack;
one side of the crack sits higher than the other, or the stone moves underfoot;
new cracks appear on neighbouring tiles.
Any of these suggests the cause is underneath the stone, so it's worth getting it looked at before more tiles are affected.

Length and width of the crack, and whether there are chips along it.
Location: floors and vanity tops are quicker than stair nosings and edges that need reshaping.
Stone type and finish: heavily veined or highly polished marble takes longer to match.
Any hollow areas that need treating before the crack is filled.

Can a cracked marble tile be repaired without replacing it?
Yes, in most cases. If the tile is still firmly bonded and the pieces haven't moved, the crack can be filled and polished in place.

Will the crack come back?
If the cause was a one-off impact, a bonded repair is very durable. If the stone cracked because of movement or a hollow bed, that cause needs treating too. We'll check for this when we assess the damage.
