Kitchen Cabinet Repair in Dubai: Chips, Peeling and Laminate
Chipped, scratched and damaged kitchen cabinets can usually be repaired on site without replacing the doors. Chips and dents in laminate, painted and wrapped finishes are filled, colour matched and refinished so they blend in. Swollen or water-damaged cabinet panels are the main exception, and usually need a new door or panel.
Kitchen cabinets take more daily wear than almost anything else in a home. Doors get knocked by pans and trolleys, edges chip, and finishes near the oven and kettle fade or peel. In Dubai rentals and holiday homes the wear builds up quickly between tenants and guests. This guide covers kitchen cabinet repair for the most common finishes and problems.
Common kitchen cabinet damage
Chipped edges and corners
Kitchen cabinet chip repair is the most frequent request. The edges of doors and drawer fronts catch on pans, chairs and cleaning equipment. Small chips are filled and shaped back to the original edge, then colour matched to the surrounding finish.
Scratches, scuffs and dents
Shallow scratches and scuffs on doors and side panels can often be blended out. Dents are filled and levelled before the finish is touched up.
Peeling or lifting wrap
Many modern cabinets are made of MDF wrapped in a thin vinyl or foil finish. Heat from ovens, kettles and dishwashers can loosen the adhesive so the wrap bubbles or peels at the edges. If the wrap is intact, it can often be re-bonded. If it's torn or shrunk, the door is usually better replaced.
Laminate cabinet damage
Laminate cabinet repair covers chips, cracks and lifted edge banding on laminate doors and carcasses. Edge banding that has come loose can be re-glued, and chips are filled and colour matched.

How kitchen cabinet repair works
Assess each door and panel. We check the finish type, how deep the damage goes and whether there's any water damage underneath.
Prepare the area. Loose material is removed and the surface is cleaned so the repair bonds well.
Fill and shape. Chips and dents are filled with a suitable compound and shaped to the original profile.
Colour match and finish. The repair is colour matched to your cabinets and finished to the same sheen, whether that's matt, satin or gloss.
Several doors can usually be repaired in one visit, so you avoid weeks of waiting for replacement doors that may not match the rest of the kitchen. The same methods work on wardrobes and bathroom cabinets. See our furniture repair service for more.
When cabinets need replacing instead
Swollen MDF or chipboard. Water from a leaking sink or dishwasher makes the board swell and crumble. Cosmetic repair won't fix the swelling, so the panel needs replacing.
Badly torn or shrunk wrap. When the vinyl has torn across a large area, a new door is usually the better option.
Broken hinge fixings. If the hinge has ripped out of the board, the door may need repairing structurally or replacing.
We'll always tell you which doors are worth repairing and which aren't, so you only pay for what makes sense.
Kitchen cabinet repair for landlords and holiday homes
Chipped and scuffed cabinet doors are one of the most common items on a move-out or guest damage list. Repairing them between tenants or bookings keeps the kitchen looking cared for without the cost of a new kitchen. See our move-out damage repair checklist for landlords.
Cabinet finishes we repair
High-gloss acrylic and lacquer: common in modern Dubai apartments. Chips show clearly, so the repair has to be polished to the same gloss.
Matt lacquer and painted doors: chips and scuffs are filled and the finish is re-sprayed or touched up to match.
Woodgrain laminate: repairs are colour matched and the grain is drawn back in so the patch disappears.
Vinyl or foil wrap: lifted edges are re-bonded; small chips are filled and colour matched.
Solid wood and veneer: scratches are sanded and refinished, and veneer chips are filled and grained.
What affects the cost of kitchen cabinet repair
Number of doors and panels: repairing several in one visit lowers the cost per door.
Finish: high gloss takes longer to match than matt or woodgrain.
Type of damage: a small chip is quicker than a long scratch or a lifted edge.
Keeping kitchen cabinets in good condition
Open the dishwasher once the cycle has cooled so steam doesn't hit the doors above.
Keep kettles and toasters away from cabinet edges, as heat loosens wrap and edge banding.
Wipe up water around the sink cabinet quickly to stop the board from swelling.
Frequently asked questions
Can you match the colour of my kitchen cabinets?
Yes. We colour match on site to your existing finish, including woodgrain effects and high-gloss colours.
Can peeling kitchen cabinet doors be fixed?
If the wrap has lifted but is still in one piece, it can often be re-bonded. If it's torn or shrunk, replacing that door is usually better.
