Marble Waterfall Desk Edge & Mitre Joint Repair

This repair involved a split mitre joint and edge fracturing on a bespoke marble waterfall desk located in a Dubai commercial space. A failed waterfall edge compromises the structural integrity of the entire desk assembly, and replacing the slab would have required dismantling the integrated joinery. The entire joint was re-bonded, filled, and polished flush on-site in a single visit without replacing any stone components.

The Damage

Structural stress and joint failure caused the 45-degree mitred seam between the horizontal top and vertical waterfall leg to separate. The shifting created an open gap with sharp perimeter chipping along the chamfered edge, leaving exposed adhesive residue and broken stone fragments visible across the corner profile.

The Repair

The joint was thoroughly cleaned of degraded adhesive, mechanically clamped, and structurally stabilized using high-strength stone bonding epoxy. The technician filled the chipped bevel and corner seam with tinted stone repair compound color-matched to the warm cream base. The subtle aggregate mineral pattern was hand-replicated across the seam line before the entire chamfer was precision-profiled, honed, and polished to a seamless gloss finish matching the factory surface.
